On Friday, September 6, 2024, the third promotional video for the much-anticipated MF Ghost season 2 anime series was released, giving fans a sneak peek of the upcoming season. Additionally, the series staff revealed a new key visual on the official anime website and confirmed that the ending theme song will be “Side U (Prod. AmPm),” performed by Himika Akaneya, who also sang the ending theme for the first season.
While there may be more cast announcements as the series progresses, fans can expect to see a nearly complete cast list ahead of the premiere.
Exciting New Racers Introduced in MF Ghost Season 2’s Final Promotional Video
The approximately 90-second promotional video for MF Ghost season 2 kicks off with a focus on a rainy racetrack, showcasing various drivers as they prepare to race. Protagonist Kanata Livington is prominently featured among the competitors speeding down the track, with exciting dialogue and scenes of major crashes and near misses enhancing the intensity of the trailer.
With the ongoing rainy conditions throughout the trailer, it appears that this promotional video highlights a specific race or episode in the season. This strategic choice allows the series to keep much of its content private ahead of the October 2024 launch.
MF Ghost season 2 is set to premiere in Japan on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 12 AM JST on Tokyo MX and BS11. Following the premiere, the sequel season will air on YTV, TV Aichi, and Animax at later times, with streaming options available on Lemino and Prime Video in Japan. While international streaming information is not yet confirmed, Crunchyroll is a likely candidate, having streamed the first season and hosted the second’s debut at Anime NYC 2024.
Directed by Tomohito Naka at Felix Film, MF Ghost’s second season features series scripts crafted by Kenichi Yamashita, in collaboration with Akihiko Inari. Character designs are created by Naoyuki Onda, who is one of the two chief animation directors alongside Chiyoko Sakamoto. The 3D direction is handled by Hiroki Uchida, while Masafumi Mima directs the sound, and Akio Dobashi composes the music.
The opening theme song, “ROCK ME KISS ME feat. MOTSU,” will be performed by Yu Serizawa. MF Ghost season 2 continues the adaptation of Shuuichi Shigeno’s original manga series, which serves as a sequel to his earlier work, Initial D, that also enjoyed a successful anime adaptation.
