Conor McGregor’s comeback to the octagon at UFC 303 is met with a stern warning from his opponent, Michael Chandler, for the former champion.
After the momentous UFC 300 event, Dana White finally announced the news that fans of MMA, as well as Michael Chandler, have been eagerly anticipating: the highly-anticipated matchup between Conor McGregor and Chandler will take place on June 29.
This will be McGregor’s first time back in the octagon since sustaining a leg injury during his July 2021 match against Dustin Poirier. Similarly, Chandler will also be making his return to the ring after his loss to Poirier in 2022.
With the fight now confirmed, Chandler had some bold statements for McGregor leading up to the main event of UFC 303. He even issued a caution that this could potentially be the last time ‘Mystic Mac’ ever enters the octagon.
“During his interview with The MMA Hour, Chandler emphasized the importance of purchasing the pay-per-view. He stated that there are only two possible outcomes, and both of them require viewers to buy the event.”
Conor’s potential success in returning would result in the greatest comeback in combat sports history. This is scenario one.
“It is highly probable that I will go out there and completely dismantle him, potentially marking Conor’s last fight.”
Upon further explanation, Chandler clarified that the warning was not meant to cause harm, but rather to acknowledge the truth of the matter.
“I do not say this with any malicious intent, but rather as a possibility. It is possible that this could potentially be the last time we witness his presence.”
Rumors of a potential McGregor and Chandler fight first surfaced when the two men served as opposing coaches on the reality show The Ultimate Fighter.
Despite many UFC fans anticipating a match between the coaches shortly after the end of their season in August 2023, it did not come to fruition.
Meanwhile, McGregor shifted his focus to his part in the movie “Road House,”leaving Chandler to wait for an opportunity to face the former two-division champion.
