Michal Oleksiejczuk Protests UFC 302 Loss After Suffering Gruesome Arm Injury

Kevin Holland and Michal Oleksiejczuk faced off at UFC 302 in a highly anticipated middleweight bout between two seasoned MMA fighters.

In the first few minutes of the match, both fighters were swinging wildly. However, Oleksiejczuk delivered a powerful strike in the middle of the first round, causing Holland to fall to the ground.

Despite the Russian initially gaining the upper hand and trying to end the fight, Holland skillfully turned the tables by executing a powerful armbar from a bottom position.

Despite Holland cranking the submission deeper and eventually bending his opponent’s arm in the complete opposite way, Oleksiejczuk showed great determination by refusing to tap.

Despite uncertainty surrounding whether it was the way Oleksiejczuk’s arm bent or if referee Herb Dean thought he tapped, the fight ultimately concluded with Holland being declared the winner.

Immediately after the match was called by Dean, Oleksiejczuk expressed his disagreement with the decision, casting a confused look towards the referee. His displeasure was evident as Bruce Buffer announced Holland as the victor.

Despite the fighter’s belief that the referee’s decision was controversial, many UFC fans watching from home shared the same opinion and felt that Dean’s intervention protected Oleksiejczuk from potential harm.

After the altercation, Holland informed reporters that he heard a distinct “pop”while executing the armbar.

Despite Oleksiejczuk’s protest, the outcome of the technical submission remains unchanged. This loss brings the Russian’s MMA record to 19-8, with three defeats in his last four bouts.

Despite facing difficulties, ‘Hussar’ has persevered. However, finding out that Holland was struggling before the submission in this UFC 302 loss is a positive aspect.

Regarding Holland, this notable victory signifies his first triumph since July 2023 against Michael Chiesa, potentially positioning the 31-year-old for a potential push in the middleweight category.

Holland’s record in the UFC as a middleweight now stands at 9-4, to go along with his 4-4 record in the welterweight division. This could indicate that the former top contender has finally settled into the 185-pound weight class.
