Midnight Society Discusses Dr Disrespect’s Departure from Game Studio

Disgraced streamer Dr Disrespect has decided to depart from his game studio, Midnight Society, in order to prioritize his personal matters, as stated by Quinn DelHoyo, co-creator of Deadrop.

In June 2024, it was announced that Twitch had permanently banned Dr Disrespect, whose real name is Guy Beahm, for sending inappropriate messages to a user who was under the age of consent.

Following the revelation of former Twitch employees and the withdrawal of several companies who had been collaborating with Doc, the streamer ultimately admitted to the accusations.

After the streamer confessed to the allegations during a call, Midnight Society, the game studio that he co-founded, was one of the first companies to terminate their association with Beahm.

As it transpires, Dr Disrespect’s departure from the company was a decision that he believed was the correct course of action.

In an interview with Decrypt, creative director Quinn DelHoyo clarified that Doc’s confession was not in line with the values of Midnight Society and that it was a difficult yet necessary choice to end their partnership with the streamer.

The segment starts at 1:00.

“We, the four of us, came to a mutual decision that it would be best for Midnight Society if we each focused on our individual tasks. This way, we can pursue our goal of creating Deadrop, our vertical extraction shooter, while also allowing him to take care of himself and his own responsibilities,”he explained.

DelHoyo acknowledged that the decision to part ways was mutually agreed upon by all parties involved. This was hinted at by Dr Disrespect in a lengthy tweet on his Twitter account, where he mentioned that “we collectively made the difficult decision for me to step down.”

The streamer has been hinting at a comeback to streaming through a series of cryptic tweets and changes to his header images on social media, all related to the “things that he needs to do.”

Despite being demonetized on the platform, Dr Disrespect has assured fans that he will eventually return after taking an “extended vacation” with his family. However, it remains uncertain when exactly this return will occur, if at all, on YouTube.

Over the last 30 days, the streamer’s following on YouTube has dwindled, with almost 20,000 subscribers unsubscribing.

If he does return, a potential platform he could use for streaming is Kick. When the accusations against him surfaced and Doc admitted to them, the staff at the site stated that they had no intention of banning Dr Disrespect beforehand, stating that it was still too early to make a decision.
