Midnight Society Reveals Truth about Dr Disrespect’s Role and Refunds Doc Cosmetic

Game development company Midnight Society is continuing to separate itself from Dr Disrespect by disavowing his participation and offering a refund for one of his cosmetic items.

In June, it was revealed by former Twitch employees that Dr Disrespect, also known as Guy Beahm, was permanently banned from the platform in 2020 for sending explicit messages to a minor.

Despite eventually confessing to the truth of these allegations, the streamer maintained that he had never faced any criminal charges. According to reports, Twitch had notified the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children about the seriousness of the messages.

Amidst the criticism, multiple companies ended their partnerships with Doc, such as game developer Midnight Society.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Midnight Society disclosed that they had a crisis call with Beahm following the initial allegations, during which the streamer acknowledged to messaging a minor.

Robert Bowling, the studio’s co-founder, also refuted any connections between Dr Disrespect and Deadrop, which is the studio’s inaugural title.

Midnight Society cut ties with Dr Disrespect after he admitted to the allegations.

“He explained that as an influencer, his role was to attract attention and build a community around it. He also noted that having some initial marketing in the beginning would have been beneficial for the project.”

Bowling also emphasized that the game’s studio secured investments from Bitkraft and Polychain Capital based on the team’s track record of success on previous projects, rather than solely due to Dr Disrespect’s involvement.

Similar to NBA 2K and Rogue Company, Deadrop has also taken the action of removing Dr Disrespect cosmetics from the game and providing players with a refund.

Midnight Society announced in a Discord post in July that customers who had bought the “2TIME”License Plate and Vehicle Wrap would be eligible for a refund.

The license plate originally labeled as “2TIME”has been updated to “REDRUM,”which is a nod to The Shining and the word “murder”spelled backwards.

Despite admitting to sending the messages, Dr Disrespect has not made any public appearances. However, he has assured his fans that he will make a comeback to the streaming world in the future.

In his final statement on X, he announced that he would be taking an extended vacation with his family, as he had previously mentioned on stream. He expressed his excitement to return without the weight of any burdens on his shoulders.

In late July, there was speculation about a potential comeback for Dr Disrespect after he changed his profile’s header image to a mysterious one.
