Mike Tyson has provided a troubling health update as he prepares for his upcoming fight against Jake Paul, stating that it is currently “hard to walk.”
When it was announced that Jake Paul and Mike Tyson would go head-to-head, many critics immediately highlighted the significant age difference between the two fighters as a major concern. This is compounded by Tyson’s vast experience and Jake’s recent move up in weight classes.
Since the fight proposal, ‘Iron’ Mike has encountered several health issues. Most notably, the 58-year-old was forced to withdraw from the initial fight date set for July 20 due to an ulcer flare-up during a flight across the United States.
As the fight date of November 15 approaches, Tyson has assured fans that he will be healthy enough to face Jake. However, his body is already feeling the effects of training.
During his appearance on the commentary team for the Cage Wars event in Schenectady, New York, on September 13, Tyson shared insights into his pre-fight training.
“It’s hard to walk right now. But two months from now I’m going to be perfect,” Tyson admitted, revealing that his condition feels “a little shaky” at this point.

The former heavyweight champion also informed the commentary team that he has completed six rounds of sparring, emphasizing that “the fight is won in the gym.” As a result, he plans to intensify his training in the weeks to follow.
The fight on November 15 is scheduled for eight rounds, each lasting two minutes. Although Jake Paul suggested increasing the duration to ten rounds at three minutes each, no changes have been made to the current format.
Reports indicate that Tyson will undergo more extensive health evaluations than usual. This decision stems from Netflix and the organizing committee’s concerns for his wellbeing.
This rigorous assessment will not take place until November 14, which leaves the fight’s viability in question less than 24 hours before the matchup. Despite this uncertainty, Jake Paul has not selected a backup opponent, indicating his confidence that the fight will proceed as planned.
