Mike Tyson has pledged to end Jake Paul’s boxing career, although he has expressed some uncertainty about whether their match will actually take place.
In March, the boxing world was taken by surprise when Jake Paul and Mike Tyson announced their long-awaited fight. Originally set to occur in mid-July, the bout was postponed after Tyson experienced an ulcer flare-up while traveling across the United States.
While Jake Paul managed to secure a victory against Mike Perry in the interim, he and Tyson have since rescheduled their showdown for November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
Before the fight, Tyson will undergo rigorous medical evaluations due to health concerns raised by Netflix and other promoters.
However, the 58-year-old has added another layer of intrigue by suggesting he might be under the influence during the match. This revelation surfaced during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where Kimmel asked Tyson about his fight preparations.
“Will you be high, maybe on marijuana for the fight?” Kimmel inquired. Tyson responded, “Not really, I haven’t smoked so not anytime soon. I will be so high off of life, yeah. It is a possibility too.”
Although Tyson may be kidding, a positive test for marijuana could lead to the cancellation of the fight.
Marijuana is listed as a prohibited substance by the Texas Athletic Commission, and a second violation would result in a one-year suspension for Tyson.
Nonetheless, the former champion is looking forward to “finishing” Jake Paul’s boxing career.
“In my fight with Roy Jones Jr., I allowed him to fight on the undercard, and I’ve decided that I started Jake’s career, and now I’m going to finish it,” Tyson remarked.
As of now, Jake Paul hasn’t lined up a backup fighter, unlike in his previous bouts. Tyson is fully focused on their matchup, but it may be prudent for Jake to consider having an alternative ready.
