Mike Tyson Opens Up About Ulcer Injury that Delayed Fight with Jake Paul
Mike Tyson has shared shocking revelations regarding the ulcer that led to the initial postponement of his highly anticipated fight with Jake Paul. This setback, announced in May, occurred just as both fighters were in the final preparations for their match.
During a cross-country flight, Tyson experienced a severe flare-up of an ulcer, requiring him to withdraw from the fight to focus on his health. In his absence, Jake Paul faced off against Mike Perry, securing a victory while closely monitoring Tyson’s situation. Although the veteran boxer, now 58, reported feeling “great” as they approached the rescheduled fight, the concerns about his health remained a prominent topic of discussion.
Details of the Health Scare
With only a week to go before their rearranged confrontation, Tyson has elucidated the disturbing circumstances surrounding his condition, revealing that the issue was far more serious than initially perceived. “I started feeling tired, and I couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong with me,” Tyson explained during a pre-fight documentary series on Netflix.
Recalling the incident, he stated: “While on the plane coming from Miami, I went to the bathroom and vomited blood. The next thing I knew, I was on the floor, experiencing severe gastrointestinal distress.” This alarming turn of events led to a hospital visit where doctors discovered a two-and-a-half inch ulcer that was actively bleeding. “All my friends were calling as if I was on the verge of dying,” he shared.
Fears and Recovery
During his hospital stay, Tyson candidly expressed his fears, asking the doctor, “Am I going to die?” The lack of a definitive answer made him anxious about his fate. “I don’t want to die in a hospital bed; I want to die in the ring,” he remarked, showcasing his determination and passion for boxing.
Although advised to take it easy, Tyson was not one to remain idle. He swiftly returned to training, all set for their match on November 15. Currently, he is undergoing pre-fight medical evaluations to ensure he is fit to compete. However, fight day will reveal the final results of these assessments.
Fans can anticipate an electrifying showdown between boxing legend Mike Tyson and rising star Jake Paul, streaming live on Netflix this November.
