Mike Tyson’s Approach to Fight Against Jake Paul

According to Mike Tyson’s former sparring partner, the highly anticipated boxing match between Tyson and Jake Paul may turn out to be a major letdown, possibly resembling nothing more than a “glorified sparring session”.

Jake Paul’s upcoming fight against Mike Tyson in Netflix’s living boxing event on November 15 has caused quite a stir in the combat sports world ever since it was announced.

Despite concerns for Tyson’s health, which were heightened after the fight was postponed due to an ulcer flare-up, there are some who believe he has a chance to surprise and defeat the rising star Paul.

Joe Egan, a former sparring partner of Tyson’s, is a believer in his abilities but has doubts about whether or not Mike truly wants to give his all and potentially “seriously hurt”The Problem Child.

In an interview with talkSPORT, Egan cautioned that the fight would be nothing more than a glorified sparring session.

According to Egan, during the 2020 match against Roy Jones Jr, Tyson delivered a powerful body shot that caused Roy to stumble and ultimately led to his defeat.

Jake Paul is facing Mike Tyson on November 15.

Mike’s capability to hurt Roy Jones was well-known. According to Egan, anyone who is hit by Mike is bound to experience pain and possibly even be knocked out, yet he still managed to control his strength with Roy Jones. Egan expressed disbelief at this, as he had personally sparred with Mike in Catskill and experienced his aggressive and merciless punches. In Egan’s opinion, Mike was a fierce and brutal heavyweight.

“It is amazing to witness how he has mellowed with age, and his accomplishments with Roy Jones are truly incredible.”

On that night, Jake Paul defeated former NBA player Nate Robinson by KO on the undercard. He is convinced that Tyson’s decision to hold back his punches gave him the confidence to be successful.

The insider claimed that while it is admirable for Jake Paul to enter the ring with Mike Tyson, they do not believe that Mike will use his full force against him. They argue that even with his age, Mike’s power remains strong and he could seriously injure Jake if he fought at full strength. Though his speed may have decreased with age, his power remains intact.

Both Egan and Joe Rogan are of the same view that if an opportunity arises, Tyson has the ability to knock out Paul. During his podcast, Rogan also expressed that Tyson still possesses the power to send someone’s head into another dimension if he manages to land a punch.

We will need to observe the outcome of the competition when the two boxers ultimately face each other in the ring this November.
