A social service worker identified as A, who was assigned to work alongside Song Mino, disclosed that the artist consistently avoided essential duties. A stated, “When answering calls, we are required to say, ‘This is (name) from Nosang Parking Team. How can I assist you?’ However, Song Mino refrained from engaging in this phone work, citing concerns over revealing his name. Moreover, he did not fulfill in-person tasks, arguing that his recognizable face would draw attention. He reportedly visited the post office only once.” A further mentioned that Song Mino tended to position himself in places where he was less likely to be recognized, deliberately avoiding the designated areas for social service workers.

Declining Attendance Raises Red Flags

Further allegations reveal that Song Mino’s attendance at his assigned service worsened over time. A claimed, “Initially, he was consistent, but eventually, he reduced his appearances to just once or twice a week, at best. Recently, he has only shown up once or twice a month; it’s become rare to see him.”

Official Responses and Ongoing Investigations

In response to these allegations, a representative from the Facility Management Corporation expressed caution, stating, “Investigations into the matter remain ongoing, and we must be careful with our comments. We appreciate your understanding, as we cannot provide further information at this time.”

Panic Disorder or Special Treatment?

Mental health experts suggested that Song Mino’s reported worsening panic disorder could be contributing to his limited engagement in public-facing tasks. However, an official from his assigned unit contradicted this, mentioning, “I have only seen him 2-3 times in the last 10 months. It’s perplexing, given the constraints on annual and sick leave. While many indicated he was present at the headquarters with around 200 personnel, our unit comprises only 13. He notably did not attend when the Military Manpower Administration conducted a visit, raising suspicions of potential special treatment.”

Appropriate actions will be determined based on the findings, and various regulations could come into play.” If found guilty of neglecting his duties, legal expert Kim Yoo-don noted, “A failure to report for duty without authorization for eight days could result in a prison sentence of up to three years.”
