During an appearance on CBS Radio’s “Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show”on the morning of April 26th, ADOR’s CEO Min Hee-jin discussed the highly debated press conference from the previous day. She stated, “This incident has taught me a lot. I have no intention of bashing HYBE. The press conference was a rare chance for me, and I wanted to be truthful rather than embellish myself.”
She reflected, “I believed that using offensive language was a common tactic when trying to undermine someone. However, I have since learned the importance of context in every conversation. Shouldn’t the context of the conversation when the KakaoTalk messages from HYBE were released be taken into consideration? I am unsure if using my imagination can be considered a wrongdoing. I want to clarify that this is not an isolated incident, but rather something that affects me as someone who must abide by HYBE’s decisions. As a result, I am unable to take any action with my stake. Naturally, I did not make any attempts to gain control over management rights.”
Min Hee-jin admitted to the allegations of ILLIT copying NewJeans’ concept, stating that she does not consider herself to be exceptional. She explained that it is common in contemporary culture to take inspiration from various sources and incorporate them into one’s own style. She also emphasized the importance of not claiming something as solely one’s own and acknowledging any similarities or influences in one’s creations.
She explained, “I brought up the issue because I felt that a line had been crossed. This objection is not only for our benefit, it seems as though they are trying to paint Min Hee-jin as having an ‘overinflated ego’ at the moment. However, this is simply my natural way of speaking. I believe it is unfair to deliberately choose angles that my critics would enjoy and use them against me one by one.”
Furthermore, during her recent statement, CEO Min Hee-jin expressed her confusion, stating, “I fail to comprehend HYBE’s decision to do this despite NewJeans’ imminent comeback schedule. One of the members even consoled me, saying, ‘CEO, just envision yourself filming a drama right now.’ While some advise me not to mention NewJeans, it is impossible for me not to talk about them. After all, even if I remain silent, I am still referred to as ‘NewJeans’ mom’.”
She conveyed her frustration, stating “I am not able to sell NewJeans. Isn’t everything intertwined? HYBE restricts me from discussing connected matters, including exposing my personal KakaoTalk.”
