The K-pop community is buzzing with discussions following Min Hee Jin’s recent statements regarding the production halt of NewJeans’ upcoming album.
On September 25, K-netizens initiated a forum thread titled, “NewJeans’ Upcoming Full Album Plan and Fan Meeting Are On Hold.”The post highlighted an interview excerpt from JoongAng Ilbo, where Min Hee Jin discussed her expansive seven-year plan for NewJeans.
Question: “In an interview with Japanese media, you mentioned that ‘NewJeans has a 7-year plan and we’re going to surprise fans with albums every year.’ Has this plan been affected by current conflicts?”
Min Hee Jin: “There was a significant setback. I was dismissed while organizing a surprise fan meeting for our Korean audience. Subsequently, the vice presidents were also removed and obstructed from their responsibilities, which led to the suspension of the next album’s production. This was unfortunate and reflects HYBE’s interference with NewJeans’ activities.”

Both K-netizens and international fans have expressed their disappointment over the interview and the ongoing conflict. Here are some of their comments:
- “Wow HYBE is really giving me goosebumps.”
- “Entertainment reporters need to seriously reflect. Stop siding with a company that’s willing to jeopardize the careers of minors.”
- “So it’s confirmed that HYBE doesn’t care about their careers. What can the girls do if there was never a plan to protect them?”
- “Trash company, stop obstructing NewJeans.”
- “The NewJeans exit era is approaching. Honestly, leaving might be the best option here.”
