Min Hee Jin Shares Frustration After Sakura & Kim Chaewon Join Source Music
ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin expressed her discontent with HYBE.
On April 25, 2024, Min Hee Jin, CEO of ADOR, held an urgent press conference at the Korea Conference Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
Following their audit of ADOR, HYBE announced the results of their investigation earlier that day. The audit was conducted after ADOR claimed to have obtained evidence of Min Hee Jin’s attempt to take control of the company. HYBE confirmed the existence of a plan to seize management rights, led by the CEO of ADOR, and stated their intention to file a criminal complaint with the authorities.
Despite denying these accusations, Min Hee Jin did provide an explanation for her ongoing dispute with HYBE, stating that the company should take time to reflect on their actions and the impact they have had on her.
Upon learning that Sakura and Kim Chaewon had joined HYBE after being scouted, she expressed her frustration at not being informed beforehand.
Min Hee Jin was so angered by their addition to the Source Music roster that she expressed her desire to resign and informed HYBE that she could not continue working.
The reason for this is that NewJeans was originally intended to be HYBE’s inaugural girl group. Hyein, one of the members, declined casting offers from various countries but instead decided to sign with ADOR in order to debut with the title of “first HYBE girl group”.
Nonetheless, due to Sakura and Kim Chaewon’s decision to join Source Music, LE SSERAFIM debuted before NewJeans, resulting in the latter missing out on the aforementioned title.
Min Hee Jin Discusses Being Asked to Delay Debut of New Jeans Until After LE SSERAFIM
Min Hee Jin also mentions that HYBE CEO Park Ji Won advised her against debuting NewJeans prior to LE SSERAFIM.
When questioned about his motives, Park Ji Won revealed that he intentionally wanted to create confusion between himself and Min Hee Jin as the mastermind behind LE SSERAFIM. This greatly upset Min Hee Jin, who had already finalized the debut lineup for NewJeans and was determined to see them debut.
Ultimately, Min Hee Jin insisted on establishing ADOR in order to expedite NewJeans’ debut. She further discloses that the decision to debut NewJeans without any promotions or teasers was a result of Park Ji Won’s restriction on promoting their debut, as he wanted to divert more attention to LE SSERAFIM.
