Min Hee-jin Involvement in Workplace Bullying Case: HYBE Exonerated by Ministry of Employment and Labor

Min Hee-jin Involvement in Workplace Bullying Case: HYBE Exonerated by Ministry of Employment and Labor

Legal Proceedings Involving HYBE and Former ADOR CEO

The controversy originated from a formal complaint submitted in September of last year by L, a former vice representative closely linked to Min Hee-jin, who was the CEO of ADOR. L accused HYBE of engaging in unlawful audits and coercing the collection of information, which was described as a form of workplace bullying.

Investigative reports from Chosun Biz have revealed that Min Hee-jin may have significantly influenced L’s complaint, directing it to the Ministry of Employment and Labor.

Additionally, L has been implicated in orchestrating Min Hee-jin’s alleged scheme to gain control over ADOR’s management. Since the previous year, a contentious legal struggle over the governance of ADOR has unfolded between Min Hee-jin and HYBE.

Findings of the Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Office

On January 13, it was disclosed that the Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Office had reached a conclusion last month indicating that the claims of workplace bullying against HYBE were unsubstantiated, resulting in the administrative closure of L’s complaint.

The complaint specifically named five high-ranking executives, including Kim Joo-young, who currently serves as CEO of ADOR, and Lee Kyung-jun, the internal director of ADOR as well as the CFO of HYBE.

Background of the Allegations

The origins of L’s complaint can be traced back to July last year, when media outlets reported that L had faced accusations of workplace bullying and sexual harassment, with allegations suggesting that Min Hee-jin had attempted to conceal the matter. L was identified as the alleged perpetrator in a workplace bullying complaint filed by another employee, referred to as A.

During the preliminary investigation into these claims, it was discovered that Min had advised L on how to navigate the situation.

Request for Reinvestigation

Upon learning about Min’s involvement, A contested the integrity of the initial inquiry, leading to a formal request for a reinvestigation made in August last year.

In response, ADOR enlisted the services of an external agency for the reinvestigation. However, throughout this process, Min reportedly guided L to file additional workplace harassment claims against HYBE’s management, as revealed by Telegram conversations obtained by Chosun Biz.
