Min Hee-jin Responds to Breach of Trust Accusations While Embracing Producer Role for NewJeans

On October 15th, an exclusive interview with Min Hee-jin was featured on Japan’s TV Asahi program “Hodo Station.”

During the conversation, Min Hee-jin clarified, “As of now, I haven’t entered into a producer agreement, which means I hold neither the producer nor CEO titles. My role is limited to that of an internal director, leaving me in a somewhat ambiguous position.”

She went on to express, “Despite this, I am still engaged in the practical tasks I previously planned and initiated. While I continue this hands-on work, I sense a lack of clarity about the next steps, and I am eager to resolve this uncertainty swiftly.”

Min Hee-jin shared her concerns regarding the future of NewJeans, stating, “I’m uncertain about what lies ahead for NewJeans. I’m simply leaving the outcome to fate.” She further mentioned, “I had been contemplating a full album to be released early next year, along with plans for a world tour. But who could have anticipated this situation?”

Demonstrating her affection towards the NewJeans members, she particularly highlighted Hanni, who was referenced during the Environmental and Labor Committee hearing at the National Assembly on October 15th. Min Hee-jin remarked, “As Hanni’s mother is currently out of Seoul, it feels natural for me to step in and offer support during her time in the city.”

About the management conflict with HYBE and her subsequent removal from the CEO role, Min Hee-jin stated, “It is contradictory to accuse me of a breach of trust while simultaneously offering me a position as a producer. I joined the company upon HYBE’s assurance that they aimed to innovate within the K-pop industry. Without these guarantees, I wouldn’t have considered joining at all.”

She believes, “I see this as merely a temporary setback; it’s not the end. I am confident this conflict will be resolved, and I am committed to advancing NewJeans’ initiatives.”

Previously, in April, HYBE initiated an audit, alleging Min Hee-jin’s attempts to take control of ADOR. By August, they removed her from her CEO position, replacing her with Kim Joo-young. In response, NewJeans members held a live broadcast advocating for Min Hee-jin’s return as CEO, while she filed a request for a temporary injunction, asserting that her dismissal was unjust.
