In a recent post, Notch revealed he is dedicated to developing a game inspired by traditional roguelikes while integrating elements from tile-based first-person dungeon crawlers. He also solicited community feedback regarding the idea of creating a spiritual successor to Minecraft, indicating a strong interest from fans.

Is Minecraft 2 a Viable Project for Notch?
In a legal context, Notch faces challenges in independently creating a Minecraft sequel, primarily due to Microsoft’s ownership of the game’s intellectual property. After the massive success of Minecraft, Notch sold Mojang Studios to Microsoft for $2.5 billion in 2014, which means any official Minecraft sequel would require collaboration or permission from the tech giant.
