Minecraft Snapshot 25W15A Introduces Ghasts, Player Locator Bar, and Additional Features

Minecraft begins the week on an exciting note with the release of a new Snapshot. In an unexpected twist, Mojang has changed the typical Snapshot release from Wednesday to Tuesday with the launch of Minecraft Snapshot 25W15A. This latest update introduces some eagerly awaited features highlighted during Minecraft Live 2025, including three unique types of Ghasts. Additionally, players will experience the newly implemented Player Locator Bar in the Java Edition, paired with several new advancements for crafters to discover. Let’s dive into the details.

Minecraft Snapshot 25W15A: Ghasts That Soar

Exciting new variants of Ghasts are now making their entrance into Minecraft. Unlike their hostile counterparts typically found within the Nether, these new creatures promise a friendlier interaction. Remarkably, players can ride these charming flying mobs alongside three companions using a Harness, which is also being introduced in the game.

Before you take off into the sky, it’s important to know that these delightful creatures can be crafted from Ghast Tears and bone blocks, exclusive to the Nether. By following this recipe, you’ll create a Dried Ghast; after waterlogging this rather quirky entity for 20 minutes, it will evolve into a small and adorable Ghastling.

Once fed, this Minecraft mob transforms into a Happy Ghast, offering players a unique aerial experience. As for the Harness, it can be crafted using leather, glass, and wool and is available in 16 vibrant colors, making it a sought-after collectible for players.

Enhancing Multiplayer with the Player Locator Bar

Another noteworthy feature in Minecraft Snapshot 25W15A is the introduction of the Player Locator Bar. This new addition to the user interface appears above the XP bar, providing directional indicators towards nearby players or team members.

If you prefer to keep your location private, there are options available to maintain your discretion. You can choose to sneak, wear a mob head, don a carved pumpkin, or use a potion of invisibility to obscure your presence.

The snapshot also introduces two new advancements: the Stay Hydrated achievement, which requires placing a Dried Ghast into water, and the Heart Transplanter, attainable by placing a Creaking Heart between two Pale Oak Logs. Furthermore, this update adds various game rules, commands, and even changes the Ambient Desert Block sound effects.

That wraps up the highlights of the latest Minecraft Snapshot 25W15A. Don’t miss out on testing out these exciting features; simply download the latest snapshot from your Minecraft launcher. Have you had the chance to explore them yet? Share your experiences in the comments below!
