Recap of Yozakura Family Episode 1: A New Beginning

The first episode of Mission: Yozakura Family began with Taiyo Asano remembering the day he was in a car accident. While he survived, unfortunately his parents and younger brother did not.

Despite facing numerous traumas, Taiyo developed a fear of forming connections with others, worried that they too would leave him. However, his childhood companion, Mutsumi Yozakura, made a promise to always stand by his side.

Despite his friends’ invitation, Taiyo declined to hang out with them at school. Mutsumi then playfully teased him, suggesting that he may end up spending his entire life alone.

Just then, Mr. Hirukawa, the class teacher, arrived and requested Taiyo to come to the office. The main character came to realize that his teacher had an unusual fixation on Mutsumi and even warned others against getting too close to her.

As he held a knife to Taiyo’s throat, ready to end his life, a white-haired girl suddenly appeared and rescued him. Upon waking up, he found himself surrounded by unfamiliar faces, including Mutsumi’s.

Mutsumi disclosed that she was part of a clan of spies. She presented her brothers and sisters to Taiyo and revealed that Mr. Hirukawa was actually her older sibling, Kyoichiro Yozakura, who was considered the most skilled spy among them.

Based on the account of the Yozakura siblings, Kyoichiro had unintentionally endangered Mutsumi’s life in the past. As a result, he has been devoted to safeguarding her ever since. Additionally, he was given a warning that someone in Mutsumi’s inner circle had ill intentions towards her.

Despite being aware of Taiyo’s tragic background, Kyoichiro still targeted him as he was Mutsumi’s childhood friend.

Taiyo was advised by Futaba, who was one of the Yozakura siblings, to wear the family’s Cherry Blossom ring and marry Mutsumi in order to put an end to Kyoichiro’s insanity. She also disclosed the topmost rule of the Yozakura family, which prohibited any family member from killing another.

Despite Taiyo’s childhood friend’s reluctance to pressure him, she declined and a fight became the only option. When Kyoichiro arrived, a battle between the siblings ensued, but none of them were able to stand a chance against him.

Kyoichiro’s strong determination to safeguard Mutsumi led him to impose unjustifiable limitations on her. As a result, Taiyo made the decision to wear the Cherry Blossom ring and wed Mutsumi, vowing to keep her safe from harm.
