The premiere of Demon Slayer’s Hashira Training Arc has brought a significant amount of attention to the Hashira, as Tanjiro and his fellow Demon Slayers participate in a specialized training program to enhance their Demon Slayer marks.
Regrettably, although the anime included numerous anime-original scenes for the other Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira, was not given the same treatment due to her anime-original scenes being too brief.
Despite this, the events still resulted in some comical situations which caused Snake Hashira Obanai Iguro to become wary of Tanjiro’s interactions with Mitsuri. As viewers have witnessed in the anime, Tanjiro and Mitsuri have a close bond. This raises questions about their age gap. Although it is known that Tanjiro is 16 years old, Mitsuri’s age as the Love Hashira remains a mystery.
Demon Slayer: Age of Mitsuri Kanroji
Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira of Demon Slayer, is currently 19 years old. In comparison, Tanjiro Kamado is 16 years old, making her three years his senior.
Mitsuri Kanroji was one of five siblings born during the Meiji Period. Despite her mother being renowned for her strength, Mitsuri surpassed her due to her exceptional muscle composition, displaying a natural talent that was unmatched.
The individual’s distinctive muscle composition and strength had a significant impact on her dietary patterns, leading her to consume significantly more food than the average person. As a result, she eventually acquired an unusual pink and green hair color due to excessive consumption of sakura mochi. This resulted in her being ostracized and unable to go through with a planned marriage at the young age of 17.
Despite facing rejection, Mitsuri Kanroji remained determined to win over potential partners. She resorted to changing her appearance by dyeing her hair black, acting weak, and eating a regular amount of food in order to blend in with others. Although these changes had a negative impact on her, Mitsuri persevered.
At one point, Mitsuri was approached by another potential partner. Despite the opportunity to get married, she questioned whether a marriage would be successful if she continued to pretend to be someone else. As a result, the marriage was ultimately cancelled.
After encountering Mitsuri, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the head of the Demon Slayer Corps, urged her to embrace her strength as a gift and reject a normal life. Inspired by this, Mitsuri joined the Demon Slayer Corps and was mentored by Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira. While attempting to master Rengoku’s Flame Breathing, Mitsuri eventually developed her own unique Breathing Style – Love Breathing.
Despite being a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, Mitsuri also embraced the belief of seeking a partner who was stronger than her. This was due to her desire for a spouse who could provide protection. However, despite surpassing her fellow Demon Slayers in strength, Mitsuri ultimately attained the position of Love Hashira.
This is likely the reason why Mitsuri felt compelled to aid Tanjiro in his journey to becoming stronger during the Swordsmith Village Arc. After recognizing his potential, she revealed to him a hidden weapon (Yoriichi’s katana) located in the village that was intended to enhance his strength.
Based on these events, it can be inferred that Mitsuri Kanroji experienced her rejections, adjustments, and transition into a Hashira in a span of only two years, ultimately making her 19 years old in the anime.
