During the Mixed Division championship on September 7, Team USA faced Team Canada in the finals, having previously defeated them 15-6 earlier in the tournament.
In the rematch for the championship, Team USA secured another victory over Canada, winning 15-8, with Brownlee scoring the final goal to earn the gold medal.
In Ultimate Frisbee, a team wins by being the first to score 15 goals, and Brownlee scored the decisive goal just as the match approached 83 minutes of play.
During the finals, Brownlee also assisted in the fifth goal during the first half, contributing to Team USA’s lead of 8-6 at that point.
“World Champs, hasn’t hit me yet,” Brownlee tweeted following his championship win, accompanied by a clip of his final goal moment.
