The previous installments, particularly MLB The Show 23, introduced the Sets and Seasons format to combat the common issue of power creep. This meant that while players could start their journey with high-rated cards, they were restricted to those cards during limited Season windows of about six to eight weeks. Consequently, each new Season required players to restart their efforts, thus losing progress and strategy. Though Wild Cards allowed for some flexibility, the overall system still posed challenges, resulting in a feeling of redundancy among top-rated cards.
A Player-Driven Decision
In response to community feedback gathered over the past two years, San Diego Studios has made a pivotal announcement: the Sets and Seasons format will not be reintroduced in MLB The Show 25. The development team emphasized that this decision is intended to enhance player satisfaction and creativity in team building. As stated by the studio, “We appreciate the feedback from our community and have also decided that Sets and Seasons will not be returning in MLB The Show 25, allowing every card to be used freely throughout the year.”

Starting November 22, players of MLB The Show 24 will enjoy unrestricted use of all Diamond Dynasty cards from prior Seasons, providing a sneak peek into the new player experience for the upcoming year.
