Model Claims He Was Fired from Met Gala After ‘Outshining’ Kylie Jenner

A TikTok user’s claim that Met Gala fired him for ‘outshining’ Kylie Jenner on the red carpet has gone viral and gained widespread attention.

It was reported that Italian model Eugenio Casnighi claimed he was dismissed from his role as a greeter at the Met Gala in 2023, following his viral fame and perceived outshining of Kylie Jenner.

In a TikTok video that has amassed over 3 million views, he recounted the events that took place. “I was just let go from the Met Gala,”he stated, while displaying multiple pictures of himself with Jenner. “Do you recall me?”

The 26-year-old revealed that he has been employed at the Met Gala for the past two years. He explained that he had not previously shared this information due to a nondisclosure agreement he had signed. However, he stated that he can now speak freely about his experience since he was recently fired by the organization. The model mentioned that his dismissal was a result of his viral fame from last year.

According to Casnighi, who disclosed that he was terminated on May 3 with only three days’ notice, they informed him: “You made it about yourself, therefore we cannot continue to employ you. We apologize.”

During the video, Casnighi also featured a popular clip of himself with red carpet host Emma Chamberlain and Blackpink’s Jennie. The text-overlay read, “Attempting to pay attention to Emma’s interview with Jennie, but…”as the camera zoomed in on the Italian model.

The TikToker mentioned his experience at the previous year’s Met Gala, where he spent the entire night with Kylie Jenner and assisted her with any tasks she required. He also mentioned how his agency and the organizers of the event aim to have models present on the red carpet in order to garner attention for the event.

“They explicitly admitted that they chose me to be with this celebrity because they preferred me over others. However, when people took photos of the celebrity, such as Kylie Jenner, and I happened to be in the frame, I was unfairly blamed for it.”

In a subsequent video, Casnighi revealed texts and emails from April 16, confirming his attendance at the red carpet and the requirement to sign an NDA.

He also disclosed that the Gala’s hired models were prohibited from sharing or reposting any content from the event, even if they were not featured in it.
