Modern Warfare 3 Players React to Leak of Cat Gun and Widespread Cheating

A leak for Modern Warfare 3 revealed footage of a new gun with a cat theme that will be added to the game. This caused players to criticize the developers for focusing on adding cosmetic items instead of addressing cheating problems.

Ever since Microsoft included MW3 in Xbox Game Pass on July 24, gamers have been calling Warzone “unplayable”due to a recent surge of cheaters causing problems in both battle royale and multiplayer games.

When accessed through the Microsoft Store, MW3 displays PC players as Xbox players in-game. As a result, cheaters on PC are able to hide their cheats by appearing as Xbox players. CharlieIntel has reported an increase in cheaters, but Activision has not yet addressed the issue.

It can be stated that frustrations over the rampant cheating in the gaming community reached a boiling point when the ModernWarzone Twitter/X account posted a video showcasing a new cat-themed weapon that shoots yarn balls and meows, set to be released in CoD in the near future.

“One user responded by pointing out that half of the player base is cheating, suggesting that their priorities may not be in the right place.”

Activision provided their most recent update on the RICHOCHET anti-cheat system on April 10, confirming the ban of over 58,000 accounts. Furthermore, on July 26, Activision took action to shut down two significant Call of Duty cheat providers.

Despite the attempts made, certain players argue that the developers are not adequately addressing the issue.

One player jokingly remarked that there seems to be more focus on cosmetics rather than their anti-cheat system.

This influx of cheaters is particularly unfortunate as Season 5 launched on July 24. Despite players’ attempts to enjoy the new content, their experience has been tainted by the presence of cheaters.

“A user made a plea to Call of Duty, asking for help in eliminating cheaters. In response, the game replied, “No, but I can offer you this gun that makes the sound of a meowing cat,”according to a third user.”

We will continue to monitor the situation and inform you of any developments if Activision takes action to resolve the issue.
