Momoshiki’s Real Scheme in Boruto May Transform Him Into the Next Black Zetsu

Fans of Boruto will recall that for quite some time, Momoshiki Otsutsuki’s primary ambition was to usurp Boruto’s body and return to life. To achieve this, he had embedded his Karma into Boruto, allowing him to eventually embody him.

However, this scheme was thwarted by Kawaki, who killed Boruto to prevent Momoshiki’s takeover. As a result, Momoshiki was compelled to utilize 18% of his remaining data to alter Boruto’s life force, effectively resurrecting him but sacrificing his own chance at rebirth in the process.

This brings into question whether Momoshiki has abandoned his resurrection plans. On the contrary, a Boruto enthusiast has proposed a theory suggesting that Momoshiki might turn into the next Black Zetsu.

Theory on Momoshiki becoming a new Black Zetsu by possessing Jura

As discussed by a user on Reddit, u/kalai1995, it’s speculated that Momoshiki Otsutsuki’s ultimate goal might involve transferring his essence into a sentient God Tree. Previously, Amado hinted at obtaining data from Kawaki’s Karma related to Akebi Sanzu. Although Amado’s motivations remain unclear, this plan implies that he could potentially extract Akebi’s mental data from Isshiki Otsutsuki’s Karma.

Thus, while Momoshiki can no longer take over Boruto directly, he may still find a way to channel parts of his data into another entity. His main challenge would be locating a suitable host compatible with his Karma and data structure.

However, this compatibility concern doesn’t necessarily apply to the sentient God Trees. In the series, it’s established that these trees arise from the Thorn Soul Bulbs of various individuals. As such, the God Trees lack physical forms of their own; rather, they replicate bodies resembling those from which they derive their respective Thorn Soul Bulbs. With this understanding, it seems plausible that Momoshiki could seamlessly transfer his data to a sentient God Tree without a compatibility issue.

This theory, while seemingly unconventional, holds merit. According to u/kalai1995’s analysis, Thorn Soul Bulbs function much like hard drives, storing the essence of the person they originate from. Consequently, if Momoshiki were to upload his data into one, he might be able to merge it with the existing information within the Thorn Soul Bulb.

Given that Jura leads the God Trees, it logically follows that the Otsutsuki would target the Ten Tails’ sentient variant. Should Momoshiki succeed in utilizing Jura for his resurrection, it could replicate what Black Zetsu accomplished with Madara Uchiha. Recall that after Madara became the Ten Tails’ Jinchuriki, Black Zetsu betrayed him and absorbed the Chakra from the Shinobi in a bid to revive Kaguya Otsutsuki.

In a similar vein, Momoshiki could harness Jura’s Thorn Soul Bulb to download his data into it, potentially bringing him back to life long after his supposed demise. Additionally, by utilizing both his own Chakra and that of the Ten Tails, he could emerge as one of the most formidable antagonists in the series.
