Monster Hunter: Now Teostra Event

As the second season of Monster Hunter Now draws to a close, Niantic has announced the addition of Teostra to the Elder Dragon Interceptions to mark the finale.

Teostra has finally joined the ranks of Elder Dragons in Monster Hunter Now, ending Kushala Daora’s reign as the sole one in the free-to-play mobile game. In order to successfully farm this formidable adversary, hunters must be on high alert and use all their skills.

Release Date

Teostra’s first appearance in Monster Hunter Now will be on August 16th, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. and the event will continue until August 25th, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. (local time) Throughout the event, only Teostra will be encountered in Elder Dragon Interceptions.

Nevertheless, after the event has concluded, both Teostra and Kushala Daora will still be present in Elder Dragon Interceptions.

Teostra Weakness

Capitalizing on Teostra’s elemental weakness will make your hunts much smoother.

Teostra is most susceptible to Water and Ice elemental attacks, with both being equally potent against it. Its weak points are vulnerable to extra damage from these types of attacks:

  • Head
  • Wings
  • Tail

To maximize your post-hunt rewards and deal the most damage, it is advised to concentrate your hits on these three areas. This will also increase your chances of completing Phase 2 of the hunt and obtaining the maximum amount of materials.

Element & ailments

Teostra is an Elder Dragon that possesses the Fire element, using its scorching hot flames and AoE Blast attacks to prey on its victims. In Monster Hunter World, players who are hit by Teostra’s fire or Blast moves will be inflicted with the following ailments:

  • Fireblight: Health slowly decreases over time until the fire on the Hunter is put out.
  • Blastblight: Causes a damaging explosion after a certain amount of time or upon taking damage.

Since Monster Hunter Now is based on MHW, it can be assumed that Teostra will employ the same moves and inflict the same ailments as in the original game.

Understanding the Effects of Blast Element Weapons

Teostra weapons come equipped with the Blast element.

Hunters can utilize Blast weapons to accumulate Blast element on a monster through their attacks. Once a certain threshold is reached, an explosion will be triggered, resulting in significant damage to the part of the monster where the buildup was concentrated.

The effectiveness of Blast weapons in breaking monster parts is greatly enhanced by skills such as Part Breaker. It should be noted that Blast damage is constant and can inflict damage on parts that are less susceptible to normal damage.

New Skill: Teostra Blastpowder

Teostra armor offers a unique skill called Teostra Blastpowder, which enhances the ability to inflict Blastblight status on monsters when using a Blast elemental weapon. Additionally, the skill also makes it more effective in removing Blastblight, making it a valuable asset in countering Teostra.
