Monster Hunter: World Gamer Completes Campaign with Crazy Emote-Only Challenge

In an astounding feat of creativity and skill, a player has tackled the entire campaign of Monster Hunter: World using only emotes. This unusual approach has caught the attention of the gaming community, especially as the game celebrates its seven-year anniversary amidst a resurgence in player activity.

Monster Hunter: World Sees a Surge in Popularity

Released in 2018, Monster Hunter: World continues to captivate gamers around the globe. In 2024, the game saw a record-breaking surge in its concurrent player count, thanks to Capcom’s “Return to World”initiative, attracting both returning players and newcomers to the franchise. Notably, popular streamer Asmongold has even become a fan, further demonstrating the game’s enduring appeal. With the anticipated release of Monster Hunter: Wilds approaching, many might assume that the community would have exhausted all the content available in the original game.

UncleAaronT’s Unique Challenge Run

However, one player—UncleAaronT—has proven that there’s still innovation to be found. Undertaking an extraordinary challenge, he completed the game’s base campaign strictly using emotes for damage, without once swinging a weapon.

Monster Hunter world Emotes only is possible. I’ve played the entire game using emotes as my only form of damage with my hunter. from great jagras to xenojiva. this dumb challenge run has been completed as of 06/01/2025. i believe i am the first person to of done this at this point of time. by u/UncleAaront in MonsterHunter

Utilizing Emotes for Combat Success

UncleAaronT initiated this challenge in February 2019, famously using the Hadouken emote to defeat the Great Jagras. This emote, a part of a collaboration with Street Fighter 5, deals a fixed 13 points of damage—a figure that pales in comparison to the massive health pools typical of Monster Hunter monsters. With each hunt limited to 50 minutes, his achievement stands out as truly remarkable.

In his combat repertoire, UncleAaronT featured a Shoryuken emote from the same collaboration, along with another emote from the Devil May Cry crossover. He described the Hadouken as the most effective choice: “In the end, the Hadouken really came out on top, providing me with consistent damage while giving me time to learn monster patterns for dodging,” he noted.

While the challenge involved some leniency for the unique fight against Zorah Magdaros, Aaron brilliantly utilized emotes to take down every major monster from Great Jagras to Xenojiva.

Documenting the Journey

To document his impressive journey, UncleAaronT has uploaded a series of episodes to YouTube. These videos showcase how he systematically defeated each monster within the allotted time frame.

It’s worth mentioning that he did utilize items and relied on a Palico companion during his challenge. Nevertheless, this unique approach to playing Monster Hunter: World is a testament to the creativity and tenacity of the gaming community.
