Monster Season 3 Features Charlie Hunnam as History’s Most Disturbing Serial Killer

Monster Season 3 is set to introduce its next serial killer, with the Ryan Murphy Netflix series focusing on one of history’s most notorious murderers, Ed Gein.

At a promotional event for Monster Season 2, which is scheduled to premiere on September 19, Ryan Murphy revealed that Ed Gein would be the central figure of the upcoming season. Charlie Hunnam is cast to portray the infamous “monster.”

Gein is the third infamous killer spotlighted in Murphy’s true crime anthology series, following the portrayals of Jeffrey Dahmer in Season 1 and the Menendez brothers in Season 2.

Known as the Butcher of Plainfield, Ed Gein was a serial killer and body snatcher, infamous for his gruesome acts of exhuming corpses and crafting macabre keepsakes from their bones and skin.

Monster Season 1 featured Evan Peters portraying Jeffrey Dahmer.

During a police investigation at his property in 1957, authorities discovered a shocking collection of grotesque items including chairs upholstered with human skin, skulls serving as bedpost ornaments, and a lampshade crafted from a human face, among other horrific discoveries.

Gein was arrested and subsequently charged in 1968; however, he was declared “not guilty by reason of insanity” and would spend the remainder of his life in various mental institutions until his death in 1984.

Among America’s serial killers, Ed Gein is certainly one of the most infamous figures. His influence on pop culture is profound, with numerous horror films drawing inspiration from his heinous crimes. Notable films such as Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and The Silence of the Lambs, as well as their original literary sources, contain references or allusions to Gein’s chilling actions.

Thus, he stands out as a notorious character, representing one of the most vile subjects explored by Ryan Murphy’s series.

As of now, no specific release date or additional details for Monster Season 3 have been disclosed.
