Most Popular Comedy on Netflix in 2014: Adam Sandler’s Big Hit

Despite his initial success on Netflix with original content, Adam Sandler’s 2014 comedy Blended is now gaining popularity on the streaming platform and securing its place on the Netflix charts.

Adam Sandler has established an impressive library on Netflix, featuring films such as Hubie Halloween, Spaceman, and Leo, an animated production. Additionally, his well-known works such as Happy Gilmore and Uncut Gems are also included. However, one film that has recently gained popularity on Netflix is Blended.

The 2014 film featuring Sandler and Drew Barrymore is a humorous, enjoyable, clever, and touching tale about family and unexpected romance. Recently divorced Lauren Reynolds (Barrymore) is set up on a blind date with widower Jim Friedman (Sandler) at the famous restaurant, Hooters.

Despite both experiencing heartbreak, Jim and Lauren dealt with their individual losses in distinct ways. While Jim mourned the loss of his wife to cancer, his daughters also dealt with their grief in their own ways. Meanwhile, Lauren’s marriage crumbled due to infidelity, but she chose not to disclose the truth to her children.

After their disastrous date, they make a mutual agreement to never cross paths again. However, when Jim visits her residence to give back her credit card, they discover that their respective boss and friend have ended their relationship. With their shared trip to an African resort already booked, Lauren and Jim decide to bring their children along for the vacation.

Despite not having any idea about each other’s plans, the two individuals unexpectedly reunite at the resort with their families. With no other option but to be cordial, they quickly discover how perfectly they complement each other.

The addition of Blended to the Netflix library has resulted in a swift rise to the top of the charts. It is now in direct competition with Mortal Kombat and The Great Wall, a fantasy movie starring Matt Damon, currently holding the fourth spot. The current rankings can be viewed in the list below:

  1. The Judge
  2. Anyone But You
  3. The Great Wall
  4. Blended
  5. Mortal Kombat
  6. Miller’s Girl
  7. Girls Trip

Despite having a budget of $45 million, the movie surpassed expectations by earning $128 million. Although it received a low rating of 15% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, audiences were more satisfied with a rating of 64%.

Blended can be streamed on Netflix, along with films such as Miller’s Girls and Anyone But You. Additionally, there are other movies that will be available for streaming this month.
