YouTube sensation Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson recently faced criticism for a now-deleted social media post in which he playfully suggested that fans could win the actual house used as Walter White’s residence in the critically acclaimed series, Breaking Bad.
Since concluding its remarkable run over 11 years ago, audiences bid farewell to iconic characters like Walter White and Mike Ehrmantraut, while others like Jesse Pinkman and Saul Goodman embarked on fresh beginnings. This lasting impact has made the show a favorite, leading countless fans to visit Albuquerque, New Mexico, to explore various filming locations, notably Walter White’s home.
Recently, this famous property was listed on the market, sporting an impressive price tag of $4 million, further heightening interest among enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Controversy Surrounds MrBeast’s Breaking Bad House Challenge
The potential sale of the house has sparked significant social media buzz, capturing the attention of MrBeast, who made headlines for his tongue-in-cheek advice about how a fan could acquire the property. He provocatively stated, “First person to make a meth lab in the garage wins the house,” in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that he has since removed.
This flippant comment did not sit well with some fans, leading to backlash. Comments like, “You’re not slick with the meth lab post,” and “@MrBeast encourages people to start a meth lab… The lowest of low this guy goes!” reflect the discontent among his fanbase.
MrBeast deleted the controversial tweet regarding the Breaking Bad house.
In addition to the backlash, fans expressed empathy towards the current residents, the Quintana family, who have occupied the house for over 50 years and have taken measures to ensure their privacy and safety, including erecting a fence.
While MrBeast has not officially responded to the criticism, he has remained active online, engaging with other posts even after the incident. It seems this attempt at humor might have backfired, sparking a broader conversation about the responsibilities of influencers and the impact of their words on sensitive subjects.
