Popular YouTube sensation MrBeast has announced that Amazon’s Beast Games allocated a remarkable $14 million to construct an elaborate city specifically designed for participants competing in this monumental event.
Earlier in 2023, MrBeast unveiled his plans for “the largest game show in history,”created in collaboration with Amazon Prime. On November 25, he shared an exciting teaser for the event, which is set to premiere on December 19.
The Grand Scale of Beast Games
This highly-anticipated production features a staggering participation of over 1,000 contestants vying for an impressive $5 million grand prize. MrBeast disclosed that the overall production costs soared to more than $100 million. However, the ambitious project has sparked some controversy; there have been reports of injuries among crew members from falling set pieces, and several participants have filed lawsuits against MrBeast, claiming “inhumane”working conditions.
Behind the Scenes of the Game Show
In spite of the negative feedback, the YouTube star remains enthusiastic about promoting the show. On December 8, he excitedly shared images and more information about the extensive scale of the production, which involves a custom-built city intended for contestants to live and compete in.

In his X post, MrBeast stated, “We spent $14,000,000 building a city in a field for the contestants in Beast Games to live and compete in.. December 19th is almost here.” His announcement quickly garnered significant attention, amassing over 753,000 views and eliciting diverse reactions. Comments ranged from amazement at the expenditure to enthusiastic anticipation, with one follower exclaiming, “I can’t wait for this!”
However, not all feedback was positive. One user questioned, “How do you plan to recover your money back?” MrBeast responded succinctly, emphasizing, “The goal is to make the best content possible, not to make money.” Additionally, when confronted by a critic who suggested he could spend his resources more wisely, MrBeast pointed out, “Hmmm, it’s almost like this is a 10-episode Prime video show I made and not a 25-minute YouTube video.”
Record-Breaking Feats
In the lead-up to the show’s debut, MrBeast also shared that while filming, he set over 28 Guinness World Records, including accolades for the largest cash prize and the highest amount of money given away in a premiere episode. This production is shaping up to be not only a landmark in entertainment but also a significant moment in the YouTube creator economy.
