MrBeast’s Responsibility for YouTube’s Dislike Extension Breaking

Unfortunately, the functionality of Return YouTube Dislike, a browser extension that displays the number of dislikes on a YouTube video, has ceased to work.

In 2021, YouTube eliminated the public dislike count from all videos, although creators still have access to view them. There are several extensions available that enable users to view the number of dislikes on videos.

Despite having 5 million users, Return YouTube Dislike is no longer functioning and has lost its popularity.

There is a large number of users on the Chrome Web Store and Reddit who have reported that the extension is no longer functioning. These users have encountered a “temporarily unavailable”message when attempting to use it to view dislikes.

Many individuals are connecting this to the recent controversy surrounding a video by MrBeast, in which the YouTuber was “allegedly”censoring comments and received over a million dislikes.

According to one review on the Chrome web store, this extension conveniently stopped functioning when MrB [MrBeast] shared a fabricated screenshot and sparked a debate about the like/dislike ratio of one of his videos. I am not a supporter of his, but I have faith in this extension.

“After the plugin stopped working, following discussions about the dislikes on the [MrBeast] video, one user commented, “Hope the plugin will work soon.”Another user wrote, “[MrBeast] got [you] bro.”

The failure of services was caused by the consumption of all available free space due to database replication.

Selivanov clarified that while the problem had arisen recently, it was not a result of any recent events but rather a misconfiguration.

Therefore, the Return YouTube Dislike extension not functioning is not the responsibility of MrBeast, Google, or YouTube.

Google is gradually discontinuing support for the Manifest V2 framework, which is used by popular ad-blocker uBlock Origin. As a result, the company is taking action against older browser extensions.
