A Secret Lair has given Hatsune Miku the spotlight in one of Magic’s most surprising crossovers to date.
Secret Lair releases frequently showcase unconventional crossovers that would not typically fit into the constantly changing world of Magic: The Gathering. These limited edition sets may focus on a specific theme or style, such as the popular Secret Lair: Just Add Milk featuring cereal mascots, or they may include collaborations that would not be feasible for a larger Universes Beyond expansion.
MTG’s Secret Lair has recently announced a unexpected crossover that would have been considered impossible not too long ago. The popular Vocaloid artist, Hatsune Miku, will now be making an appearance in the world of MTG.
Additionally, it appears that Miku cannot be limited to just one set. Four Secret Lair releases featuring Miku will be released throughout 2024, starting with Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Sakura Superstar.
Pre-orders for the Sakura Superstar set will be released on May 13 and will be priced at $29.99 for the standard version and $39.99 for the foil versions.
While Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Sakura Superstar prioritizes style over reprint value, it still includes several powerful cards. For example, Miku, the Renowned is an alternate art version of Feather, the Redeemed, a formidable Boros Commander capable of leading any match to victory.
Furthermore, the upcoming Secret Lair release, Miku, Lost but Singing, includes a reprint of Azusa, Lost but Seeking, an essential green-mana card for Landfall decks. Fans of Miku’s distinct musical style will have a variety of choices with this release, as these cards can be added to their collection or utilized in various competitive decks.
