MTG Bloomburrow Black Mana Mythic is One of the Set’s Best Cards

Bloomburrow’s Rottenmouth Viper, found in MTG, is a highly feared card among players for its ability to inflict significant burn damage and force sacrifices on opponents’ boards.

Rottenmouth Viper is a Mythic Rare creature with a high cost of 5B in black mana. Despite its substantial cost, this creature is well worth it as it poses a significant threat with its impressive stats and formidable abilities.

Despite this, the card is equipped with a cost-reduction ability that allows it to be played earlier by paying less than its full mana value. The player who casts Rottenmouth Viper can choose to sacrifice any number of nonland permanents, resulting in a reduction of one generic mana in the casting cost for each sacrificed permanent.

While the use of permanents like Convoke may require a smaller investment, achieving cost reduction through this method is not as significant as the cost reduction achieved through sacrificing permanents. This strategy is particularly effective in decks that heavily rely on creating tokens, such as Bloomburrow’s Offspring.

Despite its impressive 6/6 stats, this card lacks any combat tricks to aid in evading opponents’ blockers, making it vulnerable in battle.

Without a doubt, other players will be eager to eliminate this Creature as soon as possible, since it possesses an ability that activates upon entering the battlefield and whenever this Card attacks.

Whenever Rottenmouth Viper attacks or enters the battlefield, it receives a blight counter. With each additional token, the viper’s potency increases, inflicting 4 damage to every opponent for every blight counter on the card.

It is only fair that other players have a means of avoiding this damage, as the burn can quickly prove fatal, particularly in Commander, and even more so in formats like Standard where players start with only 20 life.

To avoid taking damage, your only options are sacrificing a nonland permanent or discarding a card. However, constantly having to make this choice during every ETB or attack can deplete your resources and leave you with a weakened board presence when dealing with this dangerous viper.
