MTG Enchantment Spikes in Price Due to Thunder Junction’s Best Commander

The Enchantment from Outlaws of Thunder Junction provides a significant power increase to Court of Vantress, allowing one specific Commander to fully utilize its capabilities.

Ever since its debut in Wilds of Eldraine, Court of Vantress has become a beloved blue Enchantment among players. Its value has significantly risen in recent times, experiencing a 362% spike from $3.30 to $14.96, largely due to its synergy with the highly sought-after Outlaws of Thunder Junction Commander.

The Court of Vantress is not the only Court cycle card from Wilds of Eldraine that has seen a significant increase in price. The Court of Garenbrig, which produces green mana, has also seen a rise in value and is currently priced at $18.32. Its versatility in +1/+1 decks, as well as its inclusion in the popular The Wise Mothman from Universes Beyond: Fallout, has contributed to its rise in price.

Both the Court cycles of Eldraine – one featured in Throne and the other in Wilds – have been immensely successful, leading us to expect more cycles when MTG revisits the plane in the future.

Although Court of Vantress has always been a valuable card, its recent surge in popularity and cost can be attributed to one specific reason. The highly discussed Commander of Outlaws of Thunder Junction, Obeka, Splitter of Seconds, reveals the true potential of this card through its interaction during the upkeep phase.

Once Obeka, Splitter of Seconds deals combat damage to a player, Obeka’s controller gains a number of additional upkeep phases equal to the damage dealt after the combat step concludes. This enables players to activate abilities that typically only occur once per turn multiple times.

As Obeka’s effect can only be activated by dealing combat damage, there is a significant likelihood that her controller will either maintain or regain the Monarch status after combat. This will lead to the continuous triggering of Court of Vantress’ most powerful ability, enabling players to flood the battlefield with additional copies of Artifacts or Enchantments.

The Court of Vantress remains one of the most sought-after uses of Obeka’s formidable skill, and its value will likely remain high as players continue to eagerly construct this extraordinary, time-manipulating Commander.
