MTG Reveals the Main Threat to Bloomburrow: The Dragonhawk

Magic: The Gathering’s Bloomburrow set contains an equal mix of danger and delight, however, the woodland critters are most fearful of this one-of-a-kind Dragon as it poses the greatest threat.

Dragonhawk, also known as Fate’s Tempest, is a valuable asset to Bloomburrow’s collection of red cards that reward players for having a large amount of mana. The red and green color combination both encourage players to use as much mana as possible each turn, and this particular card provides benefits such as impulse draw and targeted burn for following this strategy.

This Legendary Dragon Creature costs 3RR to cast and comes onto the battlefield as a formidable 5/5 with Flying.

Upon entering the battlefield or attacking, this Creature exiles the top X cards of your library, where X is determined by the number of Creatures you have with power 4 or greater. This encourages the creation of a deck consisting of pricey, powerful creatures.

Dragonhawk, Fate’s Tempest allows for the exile of these cards, granting the ability to play them until the next end step. Red mana possesses numerous potent impulse draw capabilities similar to this one, but the added bonus of it being repeatable and tied to a Creature renders this effect suitable for a diverse range of formats.

Furthermore, in the event that you lack the mana needed to cast the cards exiled by Dragonhawk, or if you have no need for them during the current turn, this card will still allow you to utilize the exile effect to your benefit.

For each card exiled by Dragonhawk, Fate’s Tempest will deal 2 burn damage to each opponent at the end of the turn for every card that remains exiled by its effect.

This card is guaranteed to be a valuable addition to Commander decks that use red mana, as well as Gruul decks in the Bloomburrow draft environment, due to its ability to provide players with the option to play additional cards each turn and inflict burn damage.

Not only is Dragonhawk, Fate’s Tempest a fantastic red-mana card, but it also gives us a sneak peek into what the upcoming year of Magic releases has in store.

After the events of Kellan’s journey on the Omenpaths, the upcoming focus in MTG’s storyline will be on Dragonstorm. This year-long story arc will reach its climax with a revisit to the plane of Tarkir, where the plans of the Dragonlords for the connected multiverse of MTG will be revealed.

The Dragonhawk marks the initial significant dragon presence in the Dragonstorm storyline, yet there are certainly additional ones waiting just over the horizon.

Players of MTG will have the opportunity to learn the launch date of the Duskmourn set on September 27, while also being able to preview Bloomburrow’s release on August 2.
