In the Isekai series, it is common for adventurers to discuss their positions and roles before beginning a quest or engaging in a battle. However, when Paul saw his wife, frozen solid by a massive Hydra, he was consumed with rage and immediately charged towards the creature after drawing his sword.

In Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 2 episode 22, Paul displayed his impressive strength and battle skills by easily holding his own against multiple heads of the Hydra. However, it became clear that even with his abilities, he would not have been able to sustain the fight for long without support. Therefore, Rudeus and Roxy stepped in to assist him.

Regrettably, Paul was the only one who could defeat the Hydra from point-blank range as its scream rendered all magic-based attacks useless. Therefore, the group made the decision to retreat to the previous level and devise a strategic plan. Paul felt frustrated that Rudeus remained unaffected by witnessing his mother in such a vulnerable state.

Little did he know, due to his departure from home at the age of seven, he and his mother grew distant, almost like strangers. However, he was determined to rescue her, even if it meant risking his own life. The fact that Hydra could regrow its head made it difficult to defeat the creature.

According to the legends of Hercules, Rudeus proposed the idea of cauterizing the area after decapitating the Hydra’s heads. Rudeus took on the responsibility of burning the wounds of the Hydra, while Paul charged forward with all his strength. Working together seamlessly, they successfully removed all of the Hydra’s heads except for one that caught Rudeus by surprise and nearly attacked him.

Despite being saved by Paul’s kick, Rudeus saw an opportunity to pluck out the last head’s eyes and used disturbance magic, resulting in the loss of his left hand. Finally, Roxy incinerated the last head and they were able to defeat the Hydra.

Despite the defeat of the creature, Rudeus was still filled with sorrow as he gazed upon Paul’s lifeless body lying in front of him, his hand missing. His relief was quickly replaced by a deep shock as he stood there, unable to process the gruesome sight before him. Rudeus could do nothing but stare at Paul’s face, unable to think of anything else.

During his final moments, Paul was discovered with a smile on his face, having successfully saved Zenith. Due to their inability to retrieve his body, Paul was cremated on the sixth floor. Lilia was deeply saddened by this and urged Rudeus to take a break, knowing that the weight of the situation was taking a toll on him.

Upon awakening from a ten-year period of unconsciousness, Zenith was shocked to discover that she had been sealed inside an ice block. Rudeus and Lilia were heartbroken to learn that she had also lost her memories and was unable to speak or recognize anyone.

The loss of Paul and Zenith’s memory greatly impacted Rudeus, creating a lasting wound and signaling the start of a sorrowful period. Rudeus must still face the difficult task of informing others, particularly Aisha and Norn, about their deaths. The upcoming events will be a tumultuous ride for Rudeus as he confronts yet another challenging trial that may seem insurmountable.
