Musician Rejects Rockstar’s Alleged GTA 6 Offer for His Song: “Go f**k Yourself”

Musician Martyn Ware has claimed that Rockstar offered him and Heaven 17 a chance to include their iconic song, ‘Temptation’, in GTA 6. However, the deal soured when the compensation provided to him was revealed.

Grand Theft Auto is considered one of the most lucrative media franchises in history, with GTA 5 alone selling over 200 million copies and ranking among the best-selling games globally.

Martyn Ware, known for his work with Heaven 17, expressed his initial enthusiasm regarding the inclusion of their 1983 hit, ‘Temptation’, in the game. However, the sum presented by Rockstar for this collaboration was described by Ware as, insulting.

Ware stated, “IT WAS $7500 – for a buyout of any future royalties from the game – forever… To put this in context, Grand Theft Auto 6 grossed, wait for it… $8.6 BILLION. Ah, but think of the exposure… Go f**k yourself.”

This suggests that Martyn Ware was far from satisfied with the offered amount, indicating that unless a more appealing proposal is on the table, we likely won’t hear ‘Temptation’ in GTA 6.

Upon its release, The Luxury Gap achieved Platinum status, primarily due to the popularity of “Temptation,”solidifying its place as one of Heaven 17’s most enduring tracks, alongside hits like ‘Let Me Go’ and ‘Come Live with Me’.

Currently, GTA 6 still lacks an official release date, with speculation suggesting a potential launch in 2025. The Grand Theft Auto series is renowned for its extensive music catalogue, featuring an eclectic range of tracks across its modern entries.

The radio stations in the game have become a hallmark of the franchise, known for their humorous advertisements interspersed with an array of musical genres. If Ware’s remarks about compensation hold true, it raises questions about what other artists might have received to feature their music in the expansive series.

To catch his attention, Rockstar would need to present an offer that is simply undeniable.

As of now, neither Rockstar nor Take Two has commented on Ware’s assertions regarding the payment offered for the song.
