Controversy Erupts Over MKBHD’s Reckless Driving Video
Renowned YouTuber Mutahar, known as SomeOrdinaryGamers, publicly criticized his fellow content creator Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) following the latter’s release of a controversial video clip. In a segment included in a sponsored video endorsing a camera, Brownlee was seen driving at a staggering 96 miles per hour in a 35 mph residential zone.
The backlash began on November 12, 2024, when fans expressed outrage over the clip, which was later removed by Brownlee himself. He commented, “Cut out the unnecessary driving clip that obviously added nothing to the video,”attempting to distance himself from the immediate criticism.
Viewers were particularly offended not just by the speeding but also by the context of the action—driving dangerously in an area marked with child safety signs highlighting the presence of kids playing nearby. This prompted a wave of responses from fans and fellow influencers alike.

Mutahar Weighs In with Personal Reflections
Amidst the uproar, Mutahar uploaded a pointed video titled “I’m Very Disappointed In Marques Brownlee,” where he did not hold back in condemning Brownlee’s reckless behavior. He narrated personal experiences of losing loved ones in car accidents, which led him to have higher expectations for someone of Brownlee’s stature.
Mutahar articulated a stark warning: “If a child had popped up out of nowhere… that kid is dead. Simple as that. It’s not even a joke.” His disappointment stemmed from the belief that influencers with significant reach must act responsibly.
“I’ve criticized many influencers for poor decisions. But for someone as prominent as Marques, I genuinely expected better behavior,” he emphasized.
Reactions from the YouTube Community
Mutahar’s sentiments echoed throughout the YouTube community, and he was not alone in mocking Brownlee’s speeding incident. Popular news vlogger Philip DeFranco joined the fray, sharing a playful jab by tweeting a screenshot that humorously showcased MKBHD’s dashboard as his phone wallpaper. DeFranco cheekily quipped, “Loving my new Panels Premium Wallpaper,” alluding to previous controversies surrounding Brownlee’s wallpaper app.

Brownlee’s Apology and Community Response
In light of the intense scrutiny, Brownlee took to Twitter to issue an apology. “All I can do is apologize and promise never to do anything close to that stupid again. That’s a terrible example to set and I’m sorry for it,” he stated, acknowledging the gravity of his actions.
Although Mutahar criticized Brownlee, he remained firm in his respect for him as a creator, reiterating his expectation for better conduct from established figures in the community.
