The sniper rifles from Modern Warfare 2 have been greatly improved in the latest update for Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 5, making them more comparable to the dominant MW3 snipers in the current battle royale meta.
In recent seasons, the Kar98k and, to a lesser extent, the MORS have gained immense popularity in Urzikstan and Resurgence maps like Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep.
These snipers are fast and allow you to take out enemies from a distance without getting too involved in close-quarters gunfights, unlike traditional snipers.
Furthermore, they possess the capability to eliminate adversaries with a single shot, making them extremely deadly without the need to exhaust ammunition – and the Modern Warfare 2 snipers are slated to possess the same feature.
According to a creator call by CharlieINTEL, it has been reported that Modern Warfare II snipers will be able to one-shot without the use of explosive rounds in a future update. However, this information was not confirmed in the Season 5 patch notes. The snipers from last year’s game include:
- MCPR-300
- Signal 50
- LA-B 330
- SP-X 80
- Diet XMR
- FJX Imperium
- Carrack 300

Currently, the MCPR-300, FJX Imperium, and Victus XMR have the ability to eliminate players in Warzone with just one shot, but this is dependent on the use of explosive rounds for increased damage. However, this is about to be altered.
The exact date of the update to buff these guns is unknown, but it may lead to a change in the Warzone meta by reducing the dominance of the Kar98 and introducing a wider range of weapons.
Currently, there are a few Modern Warfare II weapons that are considered somewhat effective in the meta, including the Lachmann Shroud and the VEL 46. However, with this upcoming sniper change, the list of viable guns could potentially expand.
