MW3 players are calling for the return of a popular competitive mode

Modern Warfare 3 players want to see the return of Skirmish tournaments, a popular competitive mode from previous Call of Duty games.

First introduced in Black Ops Cold War, this game mode sees players compete in teams of two in a single-elimination tournament, offering exclusive rewards and experience points as they progress. What particularly distinguishes Skirmish tournaments is the random assignment of an identical class for all players at the start of each round, which changes every two rounds. Add to that the lack of respawns and health regeneration, and you have a mode that has captured the hearts of fans.

After a notable return in Modern Warfare 2, this mode was removed in a rather mysterious manner, leading fans to demand its return in MW3.

MW3 players want the return of Skirmish tournaments

On February 23, a player expressed on the Modern Warfare 3 subreddit the wish to see Skirmish tournaments again. The responses to its publication clearly demonstrate a shared enthusiasm, with many people wanting to see this tournament mode again. “I miss it so much, I spent so many hours there,” confides one player.

However, some feel that the game first needs better Skirmish cards before it can reintroduce this tournament mode.

“First they need to offer good Skirmish cards,” they say, criticizing the quality of recent cards. Other players, on the other hand, claim that they “would never leave the game again” if a Ranked Skirmish mode was introduced.

Modern Warfare 2 players saw the return of Skirmish tournaments in Season 3, launching in April 2023, hinting at a possible introduction in MW3. However, it remains to be seen when this will happen.
