MW3 Players Criticize Balancing as Kar98k Leaves Marksman Rifles in the Dust

“Players of MW3 have pointed out a significant disparity in the effective damage range of MW2’s Marksman Rifles compared to the new Kar98k, placing the blame on weapon balancing for the notable difference.”

The Kar98k in MW3 has regained its popularity in Season 4, becoming the most sought-after weapon in the game. Along with its nostalgic appeal, it remains a formidable choice for players as it can deliver a powerful one-shot hit in both MW3 and Warzone, surpassing other Marksman Rifles.

The exceptional speed and one-shot potential of the Kar98k make it the ideal weapon for those who have confidence in their accuracy and appreciate quickscoping. In fact, certain players are emphasizing the superiority of the Kar98k in MW3, dissatisfied with the changes made to the formerly popular MW2 Marksman Rifles.

The MW2 SPR-208 and SA-B 50 used to be popular Marksman Rifles in multiplayer, but they have been disregarded since the release of MW3. According to a Reddit post by ‘FlowKom’, the effective damage range of the Kar98k is significantly longer than that of the MW2 Marksman Rifles.

Despite the Kar98k having an effective damage range of 50.8 meters, the SP-R 208 only has a measly range of 13 meters. This has led players to deem the SP-R 208 as “useless,”as many criticize the developers’ weapon balancing philosophy.

The Kar98k is stealing all the limelight in the Marksman Rifle category.

According to the Reddit user, the developer’s entire balance philosophy is based on the belief that new guns are good and old guns are bad. They argue that there is no justification for the SPR and SA-B to be rendered useless as Marksman rifles, while the KAR98k has become the top sniper in the game.

Some others also share this opinion, with one commenter stating, “It’s pretty crazy to have a 13m effective range for a Designated Marksman Rifle,” and another acknowledging, “The previous versions didn’t have to be so poorly made.”

Some argue that the practice is intended to “incentivize sales,”with one person expressing their opinion by posting three money bag emojis and stating, “It’s ultimately about making a profit.”

With the release of Black Ops 6 approaching and the recent announcement of it being a DLC for Call of Duty HQ, one may wonder if weapons from previous games will carry over and if the guns from MW3 will face a similar outcome.
