MW3 players want “gorgeous” cel-shaded Shipment to replace dull variant

MW3 Season 5 brought cel-shaded maps to players, including a variation for the legendary Shipment, which has received a positive response from players.

The art style of cel-shading is characterized by black borders along the environment and bright colors, giving it a comic-book appearance. Fans of Borderlands will easily recognize the toon shading technique, which adds a lively and enjoyable atmosphere to the maps in MW3.

The developers also chose to release cel-shaded versions of Rust (Toonoxide) and Shipment (Celship), in addition to a brand new map called Yard.

Celship is the daytime version of the map Shipmas, providing a vibrant and lively atmosphere in contrast to the darker night-themed version. Players have been expressing their positive reactions to this change on Reddit.

A comment made by the user ‘OthoAi5657’ stated, “This new Shipment map is definitely an improvement from the Shipmas map,”and received several agreements in the comments. One user even described it as “beautiful”and praised its improved visibility and openness.

The Small Map Mosh Pit playlist is currently the only option for players to play the map, but they are expressing their disappointment that there is no Celship 24/7 available due to their strong enjoyment of the map.

Many players are advocating for Celship to take the place of the current Shipment version. One player stated, “I hope this replaces shipmas,”while another concurred, “Absolutely. The Xmas one should be replaced with this version.”

Despite the fact that the cel-shaded Shipment map has been praised by many for its increased visibility due to its brighter lighting, there are still some players who have a different opinion. They believe that the cel-shading actually hinders their ability to spot enemies due to the vibrant colors.

Another person agreed that the maps have a cartoonish appearance and limited visibility. However, despite these unusual criticisms, the majority of players seem to be enjoying the cel-shaded maps. The developers also announced in the CoD Blog that there are plans for more of these maps in the future.

The upcoming release of Season 5 Reloaded will bring new updates, followed by the final season leading up to Black Ops 6. We will have to wait and see which version of Shipment the developers choose to include before the season concludes.
