With the introduction of Modern Warfare 3 Season 3, the game saw a wealth of fresh content. Additionally, the developers have been experimenting with a highly requested lobby feature that has been sought after since the game’s initial release.
Ever since the release of the Season 3 patch, players have been noticing the addition of the highly requested persistent lobbies feature, among the usual new weapons and buffs and nerfs that are typically included in Modern Warfare 3 updates. These updates often introduce changes or features that are not explicitly listed in the patch notes.
Some players now have the ability to choose to “stay in lobby”at the end of a match, allowing them to vote to continue playing with the same teammates and opponents in the next match. The developers are currently testing this feature and it is only available to a select group of players at the moment.
In November, Sledgehammer Games announced their plans to test non-disbanding lobbies with a select group of players in an upcoming game update. They stated that if the tests are successful, they will implement the feature for all players.

Ever since its release, MW3 has employed the use of disbanding lobbies, which required you and your party members to constantly search for new opponents in each game. However, with the introduction of this new feature, you now have the option to remain in the same lobby and continue any rivalries.
Since the game’s release in 2023, players have been consistently requesting persistent lobbies. Due to the ongoing debate surrounding skill-based matchmaking, many players are opposed to being forced to search for new teammates and opponents after a match that was deemed to be evenly matched.
Despite the start of the non-disbanding lobbies test, Sledgehammer Games has not yet made an official acknowledgement. As a result, it remains uncertain how many players are required to choose “stay in lobby”for the teams to switch over. Regardless, fans can be pleased to see the feature being tested and optimistic that it will be made available in Season 3 Reloaded or future updates.
