The Snipers Only mode in MW3 is being negatively impacted by players using semi-automatic rifles, and there have been reports of some players exploiting the mode by using shotguns.
Despite the mode being advertised as only allowing Snipers, players have managed to bypass this restriction with the introduction of the JAK Widemouth Barrel in Week 1 of Season 5. By equipping this Conversion Kit onto their MORS Sniper, they are able to effectively turn it into a Shotgun for close-range combat.
Players are tired of others using a Shotgun in a game mode that is meant to only have Snipers, as it gives them a significant advantage.
Many members of the community on Reddit have expressed frustration with the issues that have prevented them from continuing to play Modern Warfare III. One player stated, “After a few matches, I was constantly getting killed by shotguns which made the game quite frustrating for me, so I decided to stop playing.”
The Shotgun in Snipers Only was likened to the flamethrower Underbarrel attachment that players used in the headshots-only mode when it was available.
After seeing a Reddit post discussing the effectiveness of the JAK Widemouth Barrel in the Snipers Only playlist, one individual commented, “Well done, you just ruined this entire playlist.”

The inclusion of the Aftermarket Part attachment in the mode is compromising its focus on precision and one-shot accuracy, but it is not the only concern. Many players are also dissatisfied with the Longbow’s presence, as its semi-automatic fire rate is more forgiving compared to other bolt-action options.
By adding iron sights or a smaller magnification scope to the Longbow, it essentially becomes a Marksman Rifle in the game mode, leading to players expressing their dislike for it. They often complain about players using the Longbow as a marksman rifle without a scope, stating “I hate those longbow guys.”
In the mode, players who opt for bolt-action Snipers are seeking to compete against others with a similar setup, aiming to level the playing field and replicate a lobby focused on quickscoping. However, this is often not the case, as the Snipers Only mode is frequently filled with players attempting to exploit loopholes and utilize other weapons for easy kills.
