MW3 update patch note from January 23: Changes to the AMR9, spare parts and more

Modern Warfare 3 ‘s new update brings major changes to some of its most powerful weapons, as well as some spare parts that have been adjusted to be more attractive options as Conversion Kits for existing weapons. Here’s everything you need to know.

Although MW3 ‘s Season 1 Reloaded patch received its fair share of criticism for its implementation, the developers were quick to fix and rebalance the game.

The January 23 update isn’t the largest in terms of size, but it still introduces significant changes to the AMR9 that clarify its identity as a submachine gun, as well as some spare parts that could create classes defining the future meta.

Although the JAK Signal Salves has the potential to kill in 1 burst, its recoil often limits its effectiveness at the most common engagement distances. Additionally, its burst delay made it difficult to get a follow-up burst to confirm kills. Today’s changes target these weaknesses, making this piece a more favorable option.

          • Foot: 0.8
        • 75% reduction in aiming dispersion.
      • 50% reduction in the scatter penalty for random shooting.

When released in Week 6, the JAK ETTIN Double Barrel Conversion Kit did not work as expected. With this update, this Conversion Kit has been reworked to actually fire two rounds at once (no longer a 2-round burst), significantly improving its TTK. Additionally, we have significantly reduced the dispersion and recoil of this Conversion Kit, allowing for greater control in close and mid-range engagements.

  • Rival-9
    • Kit carabine JAK Headhunter
      • Decreased max damage from 30 to 26 (-13%).

      • Decreased aiming time penalty by 7%.

True to its name, the JAK Headhunter Rifle Conversion Kit is more deadly when accurately hitting the head and upper torso. Today’s changes increase its lethality and decrease burst fire delay to improve its ability to fight from a distance. We intend for this Aftermarket part to play more like an agile mid-range assault rifle than a submachine gun.

        • Increased the benefit of recoil control by 10%.
