My Hero Academia: AFO finally understands what makes Deku more dangerous than All Might in chapter 422

The official release date for chapter 422 of My Hero Academia is Monday, May 13, 2024. However, alleged spoilers surfaced a few days prior, revealing that All For One finally comprehends the true danger posed by Deku, who has now surpassed the former No. 1 Hero, All Might.

As it is well known, Toshinori Yagi held the One For All quirk for a significant period. Therefore, unlike other users of OFA, All Might was the archenemy of All For One for quite some time. Despite the hero’s strength, he never posed as much of a challenge as Deku, causing the villain to question why he was now facing such difficulty.

This article includes spoilers from the My Hero Academia manga.

According to the purported spoilers for chapter 422 of My Hero Academia, the manga will feature Deku’s friends attempting to pave the way for him to confront All For One. Despite All For One’s efforts to impede Deku, his companions and fellow heroes proved to be formidable obstacles. As a result, All For One was left dumbfounded by the turn of events.

All For One was perplexed by the fact that the severely injured heroes refused to succumb to death. As one could surmise, Deku’s comrades were not as powerful as him, and their strength had been depleted by the ongoing war. Therefore, it was incomprehensible to All For One how these heroes continued to come back for more.

At that moment, All For One recalled his words to Deku in the vestige world. According to him, Deku was deemed useless. Surprisingly, it was this very aspect of Deku that made him even more dangerous than All Might.

Despite once being the No. 1 Hero and regarded as the symbol of hope, All Might’s battles were always met with blind trust from other heroes who would watch from the sidelines. However, this trust does not extend to Deku, who is much weaker than All Might and is not relied upon to win fights on his own by his friends and other heroes.

Deku’s determination led his friends and fellow heroes to continuously join the battle and provide support in his victory against AFO. This same mindset was previously demonstrated by Kaminari in chapter 416 of My Hero Academia.

While assisting Kaminari in walking, Yaoyorozu learned that he lacked faith in Deku’s ability to defeat Shigaraki Tomura. Despite acknowledging Deku as the most powerful hero, Kaminari couldn’t see him as the same symbol of hope that All Might once was. This caused him to have concerns about Deku’s chances of winning the fight.

It appears that this fear is what motivates the other heroes to support Deku in his battle. Without it, All For One could have easily defeated both Deku and the other heroes.
