On Thursday, September 26, 2024, an exciting collaboration between My Hero Academia and Overwatch was officially announced through Blizzard’s X account (formerly Twitter). This partnership will introduce five unique skins inspired by the acclaimed series created by mangaka Kohei Horikoshi to the game. Characters such as Juno, Reinhardt, Kiriko, Reaper, and Tracer will receive these new skins, with Tracer taking on the appearance of series protagonist Izuku “Deku”Midoriya.
According to the official Blizzard website, the My Hero Academia x Overwatch collaboration is scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 17, and will last until Wednesday, October 30, 2024. This collaboration is exclusively for Overwatch 2, not the original game. Blizzard has stated that the skins will be part of a “Mega Bundle,”offering all five legendary skins along with extra cosmetics. Players will also have the opportunity to participate for free to earn five sprays and a powerful charm.

The My Hero Academia x Overwatch collaboration will feature skins for five notable characters from the anime and manga series, starting with Tracer as Deku. Reinhardt will don an All Might skin, while Juno will sport an Uravity skin representing the character Ochako Uraraka. For the villains, Kiriko will take on the persona of Himiko Toga, and Reaper will transform into Tomura Shigaraki, the leader of the League of Villains.
Each skin will incorporate the most recognizable hero or villain attire of the respective characters, with slight adjustments to match the design style of the video game. For instance, Reaper’s skin as Tomura Shigaraki will feature a chest mark that is not originally a part of Shigaraki’s design. Similarly, Tracer’s power core will be included on the Deku skin, despite it not being a feature of the original anime and manga character.
As of now, there has been no additional information regarding the other cosmetics related to the My Hero Academia x Overwatch collaboration beyond the skins. Currently, it appears that the only means to acquire these skins will be through in-game purchases. While this may change in the future, it seems that these outfits will initially be offered as premium content.
Overwatch 2 launched in August 2023 as the sequel to the original 2016 game. A key highlight of this sequel was the introduction of a player versus environment (PvE) mode. However, in May 2023, it was announced that the plans for this mode would be abandoned.
Horikoshi’s hit manga, which began serialization in July 2014, concluded in August 2024 after running for just over a decade. The series was featured in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump and comprises 430 chapters, which will be compiled into a total of 42 volumes, set to be released in December 2024.
