The sixth season of My Hero Academia was arguably the most action-packed one yet. It delivered surprising revelations that have set the stage for an even more intense season 7.
The sixth season of the show unveiled a major revelation regarding the character Dabi, the Villain. Fans had been speculating about his true identity and the origins of his Quirk for a long time. Eventually, Dabi made the decision to publicly reveal himself, leading to more turmoil for the Heroes to handle.
My Hero Academia: The Todoroki Family After the Battle Against Dabi
Before the fight vs Dabi
The Todoroki Family was far from being a typical, normal, and content family. Instead, it was a dysfunctional and troubled household built on personal gain rather than genuine affection. Enji Todoroki/Endeavor, with his immense power and influence, orchestrated a Quirk Marriage with the Himura family in order to wed their daughter, Rei.
The goal was to have a child with the combined abilities of both parents, Fire and Ice, and raise them to surpass Japan’s top hero, All Might. Despite their troubled marriage, the couple managed to make it work. As a result, they had four children – Touya, Fuyumi, Natsuo, and Shoto.
Despite inheriting a powerful Fire Quirk, Touya also inherited his mother’s resistance to Ice, causing him to suffer burns while using his abilities. Enji saw potential in Touya and began training him to surpass All Might, but stopped when he learned of his son’s Ice resistance. This angered Touya and sparked a fierce determination to train even harder.
Despite being disappointed with the outcome, Enji went on to have three additional children – Fuyumi and Natsuo, who both inherited Ice, and Shoto, who was the ideal combination of both Ice and Fire.
Despite Enji’s efforts to prevent Toya from doing so, the boy persisted in training his Quirk despite the severe burns he suffered. He became determined to gain his father’s attention and prove his worth.
After a dangerous incident involving Touya and baby Shoto, Enji prohibited anyone from coming near Shoto and entrusted the children to Rei, particularly Touya. This marked the start of Shoto’s grueling training to surpass All Might. Seeing her son suffer, Rei tried to intervene but was met with mistreatment from Enji.
In the meantime, Touya continued his training in secrecy at Sekoto Peak. As a result, his flames transformed into a vibrant blue hue. Upon discovering this, Enji directed his anger towards Rei. After being repressed for so long, she finally reached her breaking point and impulsively threw boiling water at Shoto. This incident led to her being admitted to a mental hospital.
Afterwards, Touya anxiously waited for his father’s arrival at Sekoto Peak, eager to demonstrate his progress. Unfortunately, he ended up losing control and accidentally set himself and the surrounding forest ablaze. Despite thorough searching, only a fragment of his jawbone could be recovered from the charred remains.
Despite the impact of his death on the family, particularly Rei, who experienced a relapse and required a longer hospitalization, he persisted in neglecting Fuyumi and Natsuo while constantly training Shoto.
The big reveal
Throughout the Paranormal Liberation War, Dabi was an active participant in the battles, initially facing off against Hawks before ultimately teaming up with Gigantomachia. It was during this intense conflict that he chose to finally unveil his true identity.
With Spinner taking care of the unconscious Tomura Shigaraki, Dabi appears on Gigantomachia’s back and speaks directly to Endeavor and Shoto. He removes the dye from his hair, revealing himself to be Toya Todoroki. His revelation shocks Endeavor and Shoto to their core, leaving them horrified.
To make matters worse, he reveals that he had made arrangements for the story of Endeavor’s mistreatment of him and his family to be broadcasted live on television.
Aftermath of the Fight with Dabi
The family was deeply affected after the events of the Paranormal Liberation War, as Touya’s true identity as a mass-murdering Villain was exposed. The broadcast also brought to light Enji’s troubled past and the Todoroki family’s painful experiences. Each member was profoundly impacted, particularly Enji who felt overwhelming sorrow and remorse.
Despite the sincere and tearful apology he gave when his family visited him at the hospital, the damage had already been done. The Todoroki family reflected on their past mistakes, particularly regarding Touya, and made the decision to take responsibility for their actions. As a result, they united behind Enji’s goal of putting an end to Dabi’s destructive plans.
Subsequently, it was uncovered that All For One (AFO) had rescued Touya and intended to manipulate him for his own gain. Nevertheless, Touya’s intense fixation on his father proved to be too overwhelming. Despite returning home to seek forgiveness for his wrongdoings, Touya was disheartened by the lack of transformation in his father and ultimately suffered a mental breakdown. He came to believe that he had disappointed his father and ultimately embraced “death”, emerging as Dabi.
