My Hero Academia: Chapter 417 resolves the Shimura family’s problems

As the end of the My Hero Academia manga draws closer, the upcoming chapter 417 due out this weekend will put an end to the Shimura family’s feuds.

Among the most popular shonens of the moment, we obviously find One Piece, a true monument of the genre which continues to attract more and more fans over the years, but also other titles released more recently, such as Jujutsu Kaisen or Demon Slayer again. But there is also another manga that has managed to carve out a special place in the hearts of the public, namely My Hero Academia.

Kōhei Horikoshi’s manga is clearly one of the most popular works among superhero fans, many of whom have been won over by the adventures of young Deku, who dreams of becoming the greatest hero of his time and thus follow in the footsteps of his idol All Might. But to do this, he will have to face all kinds of threats, including the famous Tomura Shigaraki.

Real name Tenko Shimura, Shigaraki is a character who, due to his difficult past, became the main antagonist of the story. His goal is to destroy All Might and thus prove to the rest of the world that the fragile balance that preserves society could easily topple if the famous “symbol of peace” were to disappear. However, the latest spoilers for chapter 417 of the manga, which fans can discover on MANGA Plus from March 17, 2024, reveal that the family problems encountered by the Shimura family will soon be resolved.

The tragic story of the Shimura family

As a reminder, Shigaraki was not always so hostile towards All Might and other superheroes. On the contrary, the character even had a real fascination with heroes in his youth. Unfortunately, his attraction to vigilantes had clashed with the vision of his father, Kotaro Shimura. It is the latter who is partly responsible for the trauma of the Shimura family, because Kotaro’s mother (and therefore Shigaraki’s grandmother) is none other than Nana Shimura, the 7th bearer of One For All.

In order to protect her son, Nana decided to move away from Kotaro, believing that it was the best solution for him to survive. But for Kotaro, Nana’s decision will be perceived as a form of abandonment, thus leading him to develop a deep resentment towards her, which will transform into real hatred towards all the heroes. An extreme resentment which will resurface when he discovers that his son Tenko is attracted by the vigilantes, resulting in terrible violence towards him, both physically and psychologically.

This intense suffering experienced by Tenko will also have a decisive role at the moment when his Quirk manifests itself, leading to the tragic night where the young boy will accidentally kill his entire family. He will then be taken in by All for One, thus becoming his protégé, which will then give birth to the Tomura Shigaraki that we know.

My Hero Academia Chapter 471 is expected to bring peace to the Shimura family

But chapter 417 may well provide a solution to the Shimura family’s trauma. Indeed, following the latest spoilers for the next chapter which can already be found online (and in particular on Reddit), we know that an awareness of the characters is about to occur. Because while Deku wanted to transfer the One For All to Shigaraki, Nana’s spirit will be pushed back, due to the contradictory feelings she has towards her son and her grandson.

She will then witness a scene in which Kotaro is beating Tenko, Nana’s son explaining that the latter is only a demon who abandoned his own child. She will thus realize that this wound left in Kotaro has been transmitted to Tenko. Distraught by the situation, she will finally realize that it cannot stay like this, and will then apologize to Kotaro, before hugging him.

A sort of redemption that could well have significant repercussions on the psyche of Shigaraki, who understands that all of this could potentially have been avoided if his grandmother had acted differently. It remains to be seen what direction the character will take next, especially since he is now the bearer of One For All.

The ultimate outcome of My Hero Academia therefore seems to be inexorably approaching its conclusion, the “exciting” ending of which had recently been teased by the director of the anime.
