My Hero Academia Chapter 421 confirms Deku is now Quirkless

The latest spoilers for Chapter 421 of My Hero Academia have been revealed, revealing that Deku has lost his Quirk in the manga.

The Final War Arc of My Hero Academia has been ongoing for a significant amount of time. However, each new chapter reveals that the arc is reaching its final stage, as the storylines of key characters such as Bakugo, Shoto, and Ochako are being concluded. The only remaining event is the anticipated showdown between Deku and Shigaraki.

Despite this, the manga took a surprising turn when All For One’s return was revealed. Not only has the villain taken control of Shigaraki’s body, but the current state of the protagonist is even more shocking.

Despite being in a gruesome condition after losing both of his arms to Shigaraki’s Decay in the imaginary world, Deku was healed by Eri’s Rewind. However, as a consequence, Shigaraki has gained access to every vestige of the previous users of One For All.

Kudo’s plan was executed as intended. Deku’s decision to move the previous users of OFA to Shigaraki made the villain vulnerable to the effects of their Quirks. However, it also put Deku in a difficult situation.

Despite much speculation surrounding Deku’s condition, the aspiring hero himself confirms in My Hero Academia Chapter 421 that he has lost his Quirk. He has transferred the entirety of One For All, including all previous users’ Quirks, to Shigaraki, effectively making them all the property of All For One.

In the new chapter, Deku also exposes that he is only left with the embers of OFA. This mirrors All Might’s state during his battle with AFO in Kamino.

Despite Deku’s lack of Quirk, it presents a grim outlook for the heroes. However, the revelation of possessing remnants of OFA brings hope. This signifies that Deku, like All Might, can confront AFO on equal ground and potentially inflict significant damage.

Despite having access to powerful Quirks such as Gearshift, Fa Jin, and Blackwhip, AFO now gains an even greater advantage from Danger Sense in addition to his existing arsenal of abilities.

Despite being Quirkless, Deku’s loss of his powers in My Hero Academia is once again ironic. From the beginning of his journey as a hero, he has faced the challenge of not having a Quirk, and now, right before his biggest battle, he finds himself in the same situation. However, it is important to remember that the manga promotes the message of hope and dreams. Therefore, there is still a possibility for Deku’s fortunes to change in the future.

Looking ahead in the world of anime, fans can expect the highly anticipated debut of My Hero Academia Season 7 in Spring 2024. Along with the new season, there is also a movie in the works titled My Hero Academia: You’re Next.
